Crimp tool hex size for outer ferrule of RG-316
« on: November 29, 2024, 10:32:01 pm »
I've got a Daniels HX4 and am looking to crimp the outer ferrule for RG-316. Can someone confirm the die hex size I should use for this? I think it's 0.178" (the Y204P), but I'm not sure. Can some confirm? Thanks.

Also, is there a good way to determine this for general cables based on the cable dimensions?

I don't have that tool so I don't have a part-number, however, in terms of dimensions, it should be in the CAD drawing of the connector (see example screenshot). Usually, for RG-316 connectors, it would be a 0.128" across flats hex crimp.

Thanks - that's helpful. Unfortunately the connector I'm looking at does not provide that info in the drawing. But, I would expect it's the same. I think the appropriate die is the Y196 then.
