self-indicating switch
« on: August 22, 2024, 08:31:10 pm »
There used to be a pushbutton switch design which indicated on/off state with a mechanically-flipped fluorescent dot. This showed the state of the switch without consuming power, or in the absence of power.

I've been trying to find one, but either I can't think of the search term or they've disappeared from the earth.

Does anybody know where I might find one, or what they're called ?

I know what you mean: My old 2465 Tek scope has a power button like that. They're probably not made anymore due to the mechanical complexity which makes them physically larger and more expensive.
Perhaps you could use a more standard bat handle toggle switch?

Thanks, both - that's great. I knew I'd seen them on some equipment and it was probably that tek scope.
The amazon link won't ship to me but the search term may help - I was looking for ''self indicating'.

The C&K series F switches (as posted by ledtester) are indeed what's used on the Tek 24xx scopes.  I had to replace an indicating cap recently and ordered it from Mouser.

If you want exactly the same, they use the "yellow" indicator cap, part number F08010106.
