Handskit T12A Desoldering Station
« on: December 22, 2023, 04:37:08 am »
I recently acquired a Handskit T12A Desoldering Station like the one shown here
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006011190635.html
but unfortunately, while the pump seems to run OK, the tip does not seem to heat up properly, and shows a low temperature and/or  ERROR.

I reseated the tip in the handle a few times, and it warmed up OK once, but now has gone back to the behaviour above.

It is powered by a 24V wall wart, which shows an appropriate voltage on the display (24.3V). The person I got it from tells me that he inadvertently plugged the power supply into the pump switch connector (both are barrel connectors) which caused the pump to run continuously before realising his error and connecting everything correctly.

The menu system seems to respond as expected apart from the failure to heat, so the misplugging does not seem to have wrecked the control board.

Does anyone else have one of these units, and can suggest a solution?

Going to buy and test one of these, so will report. Too curious to ignore it even I'm using the Proskit SH331 now..

So the station has arrived and I must say the first impression is very good for the money.. Seems like a copy of Weller. I like the fact it's very small in comparison with ZD-8915 or similar tools. It also has the features like idle/sleep mode which I like on my KSGER. But I don't know how about intensive use as I use it only occasionally, time will tell...

What types of tips are available, where to buy them and how much do they cost?

So far as I know there're only tips on Ali from the same seller available - Handskit official store. The price is funny- like a dollar per a piece, just only the "original" 1mm tip is like 4USD, still pretty affordable I'd say. And recently the seller has also added all the heating core incl the carbon "tank" or the whole handle. All for very good price. So far so good, I'm still very happy with the purchase and decided to sell my ZD-8915.
