JBC BT-2BQA buzzing sound
« on: December 25, 2024, 10:19:07 am »
Hi,
I got a brand new JBC BT-2BQA soldering station and when it is heating the tip, it produces quite loud buzzing sound. https://youtu.be/sXBanCWsp00 - please turn your up volume as my phone is not able to record a quality sound record.

Anyone with this soldering station - is it normal?

Can't hear anything at all. Maybe use your phone and a FFT app to see what frequency, 60 or 120Hz I would guess?
What if you set the station on top of something soft?

thm_w,

Sorry for off topic, but you have a JBC BT-2BQA and some/several JBC clones?

Inductors like lose coils, cracked core, bad soldering or lose transformer iron core laminations, capacitors including filtering.

As power, lighting and equipment noise can also contribute, isolate to another building and retest first.

This station uses phase angle control for regulation, and any loose ferrous objects (e.g. bits of steel wire that have rolled under the station) can cause buzzing in the leakage field from the transformer.

If there's nothing in the vicinity maybe pop it open to check for a loose screw or something? If it's the transformer itself you may be out of luck.
