Hi All
Came across this youtube video on the modification details with SOFT START within the IGBT DC Welder.
Is it really necessary to implement this SOFT START module in the circuit? What would be the advantages for the mod. / upgrade?

Soft start increases the lifetime of the components by reducing the stress at turning on.

Also reduces the mains voltage drop from the surge.
