Hello, I bought a new Maglite ML50L 2-CELL C flashlight and there seems to be a problem. The Eco mode stopped working! What could happen?? Anyone had this problem?
Otherwise I was able to choose general, outdoor, law enforcement and tactical function sets. At Outdoor and tactical set I got a strobe mode at three clicks. That is OK.
At general and law enforcement there should be eco mode at three clicks, but there is nothing, LED stays off.
I only get full power at one click and low power at two clicks.
There seems to be a firmware problem probably???

Now I use two Ansmann maxE HR14 mono C Ni-MH 4500 mAh 1.2 V. They are new and charged in my home charger. It did not help, the Eco mode still does not work!

So just out of the box it didn't work?
But you said "stopped working" which implies it originally worked.
Either way sounds like a warranty issue.

I don't know about today but Maglite used to give a lifetime warranty. I called them about 2 years ago and they sent me some parts for my 40+ year old 5 D-cell Maglite at no charge.

Maglite ML50L was successfully delivered back to the local distributor. He said that the flashlight still behaves the same. Eco mode does not work. It will be probably repaired or I might get a new one. I will see in some 30 days.

it probobly means a PWM transistor got fried and its ON
These flashlights tend to blink the light from the battery in square wave control. $

The distributor sent me a new Maglite ML50L 2-cell flashlight. Now all light modes work, including Eco mode. I use Ansmann maxE HR14 mono C Ni-MH 4500 mAh 1.2 V cells.
