Pace footswitch connector for desoldering station
« on: May 31, 2022, 09:22:20 pm »
Can anyone with a Pace desoldering station identify the connector on the footswitch cable? My station is the MBT 350, but I believe most, maybe all, of their desoldering stations from the last 20 or so years use the same connector. I've looked though Mouser, Digi-Key, Amphenol and a few other searches without finding it (although I might have missed it on Digi-Key or Mouser).

Thanks.

Thank you thm_w, Shock and asis.

Shock, several of your other posts about Pace have also been very helpful to me, as have Tooki's.

Great info - thanks for taking it apart and the pictures. I ordered the T 3424 951 plug and VN0101500472 pins. They should arrive tomorrow.

I'll update once the parts arrive.

FYI, ordinary non-latching DIN plugs fit, too. Rather than buying Pace’s inexplicably expensive foot pedal, I bought a $10 guitar pedal at the local shop, then used an ordinary DIN connector and 1/4” inline phone socket to make an adapter. Works perfectly for the rare times I want a pedal. :)

T3434-951 (7 pin) or or T3424-951 (6 pin) both may not work. First one according to the drawing is horizontally aligned pins and the manual shows vertically aligned.
They’re DIN connectors, which use fundamentally round pins. There is no alignment to worry about. The orientation from stamped contacts is irrelevant.

Second one the missing pin at the top according to the manual is a used pin. So unless you can reconfigure the pins or move the key might end up with probs.
It’s a standard 6-pin layout with only 2 pins populated. The 7th hole you’re seeing is not a hole for a pin, just some manufacturing artifact.

Hi,

The presence of original connectors with a set of pins can be valuable for owners of the PRC2000.
AUX channels are very easy to convert to any other instruments (preheat and thermal air).
All you need is RTD's 100 Ohm and optocoupled triacs and you have 6 full temperature controlled channels. :-+

They’re DIN connectors, which use fundamentally round pins. There is no alignment to worry about. The orientation from stamped contacts is irrelevant.

The whole barrel assembly is keyed and the pin arrangements are aligned differently between different connectors, this is what I was talking about. Wasn't talking about the shape or size of the pins.

I misread it originally and mistook the key for the locking nut, I see it's actually inner keyed and upside down in the manual now. So yep doesn't need the 7th pin. I'm thinking it's not that series but still might work.
All DIN connectors (which is what these are) are inner keyed.

What makes you doubt the series?!?

Hi,

Did you ever get the connectors & were they the correct ones?

Did they look similar to an actual Pace connector?

Regards,
Brian.

Getting back to this after a couple of other projects got in the way.

The T 3424 951 plug and VN0101500472 pins work perfectly. Here are links to the DigiKey product pages.

Also see the catalog pages that asis posted in reply #3 above.

Thanks to asis and thm_w for their help.
