What a stupid setup. Called and attempted email. No luck as its after hours. Used my old Weller to get what I needed done. Then took my PACE apart.
There is a jumper right next to a Microchip EEPROM 93LC46. I jumped it, then turned it on. No luck. So I grounded the serial data output pin 4 to pin 5. Then turned it on and the display showed P--. Next remove the jumper. I just used tweezers to jump it. Next press the down arrow to clear the password. Then change your settings per the manual. Once you save and exit the setup, the password should be cleared and your good to go.
So if you ever buy a used one or some how yours gets scrambled at least somewhere on the internet you can now see how to recover it.
I bought this brands new in 2004 from Jenson Tools. I don't even think they are in business anymore. It sees a lot of use and the tips are still in great shape. It's been a solid performer until today. I have no idea why it scrambled it's memory.
