Title: PCB mount header for computer fans
Post by: Emil on May 13, 2015, 02:02:28 pm
I'm looking for 4 pin pcb mount headers of the type normally used to connect computer fans to the mother board.

They have a plastic tab which prevents reverse insertion and locks the connector in place. Unlike other polarized headers the plastic tab is offset to one side, allowing either 2, 3 or 4 pin fans to be connected.

I'v been searching on Mouser and Aliexpress with no luck so far. Does anyone have a link, part number or the correct term to search for?

These 4-pin PWM fans appeared for use with Pentium 4 CPUs. I found a specification for these fans here:
http://www.formfactors.org/developer%5Cspecs%5Crev1_2_public.pdf (http://www.formfactors.org/developer%5Cspecs%5Crev1_2_public.pdf)
In there, the connectors are specified as:
Male (board): Wieson part number 2366C888-007, Molex 47053-1000, Foxconn HF27040-M1, Tyco 1470947-1
Female (fan): Wieson part number 2510C888-001, Molex 47054-1000 or equivalent

BTW, the offset polarizing tab only allows 3- or 4-pin fans, not 2-pin.

Thanks neslekkim and macboy. That's the header I'm looking for.

I was mistaken about the 2-pin, but that's not a problem, the fans I will use it with will be either 3- or 4-pin.
