Title: QRMA (Quantum Resonance Magnetic Analyzer) teardown
Post by: glicos on March 08, 2014, 02:04:17 pm
Just recently got my hands on a QRMA to test but this is not mine (rented from a friend) As eevbloger, my hands is itching on tearing it down but unfortunately i'm not allowed to open it. As claimed by the manufacturer, this gizmo can "magnify and analyze) magnetic field produce on a cellular level and based on this can quickly diagnose and give overall results of your health. The gizmo i referring to is pictured below:

(http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii538/genebaq/20140308_163036_zps546be06f.jpg) (http://s1258.photobucket.com/user/genebaq/media/20140308_163036_zps546be06f.jpg.html)

(http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii538/genebaq/20140308_163056_zps4945a8d8.jpg) (http://s1258.photobucket.com/user/genebaq/media/20140308_163056_zps4945a8d8.jpg.html)

If this is the case then i assume it contain the a very sensitive magnetic sensor (either a coil or hall effect sensor) on its sensing rod, a microcontroller and a very sensitive high gain amplifiers inside the box.

Hope someone here have this device and willing to tear it apart. Im planning to buy one but still hesitant if this is the real thing... :phew:

Looks like one of those carnival "sweaty palms" strength testers  :-DD

If you can't take it apart, you could at least give the sensors a look... are they metal pads, plastic, actually magnetic sensors...?  Put some fields around them and see what shows up on the screen! :)

Also, not to be confused with actual science: NMR/MRI is the closest real thing to this product's name.  Cool stuff, tricky to measure.  The Phys Rev papers by Purcell, et al. are classics from the 50s, still a good read today.

Ah, the old "put some pseudo-scientific words on it, add some dials, number displays and blinking lights and then sell it for $10,000" con.

Just be careful, or you might end up like this guy.

Misleading title. Two thumbs down!

The bullshit meter is strong here  :bullshit:

Tear it down... you're not going to jail for it :)

You'll find nothing inside that is capable of measuring your health...More likely it's a skin resistance meter, some opamps for scaling and some LEDs for output.

My itchy fingers started to reach its toll, and without permission from the owner, i managed to tear it down and alas...its not the real thing:

In summary, this thing is a crap. It should be called "Skin Resistance with Blinking Lights" or SRBL. :-DD :-DD :-DD :-DD

Is this for real or have you made it up?

If this is for real, is this scam something people can buy or pay for in some way?

If so, make it known to those that can make a difference in stopping the scammers going any further with it.

Yes Dawgie this equipment is very popular in our country especially on companies that sells food supplements. They use it as a front to attract potential customers to buy their products. I have nothing against those companies who sell food supplements coz im also a user of those food supplements but the thing is more of this "gadgets" is imported from china and many people buy it w/o any questions. This one sells around 12,000 pesos ($270) up to 40,000 pesos ($903 with built-in LCD touchscreen monitor)

QUANTUM BLA BLA BLA

Well they got the first three letters right. I also notice they wrote it twice, I guess they ran out of bullshit woo-woo buzzwords.

Anything on the other side of the PCB?

Gonna guess display drivers or MCUs.

Were you surprised? It couldn't have been real. They took a few medical-science sounding words which don't even make sense in context, stuck them together, and printed them on a box. Nothing that could have possibly been in that box, at any price, would have been "real".

Nice crap teardown!

BTW here is one of the "Quantum"-buzzword-bullshit-woodoo-Shops. |O

One highlight is the barcode suppressor pen (DE: Strichcode-Entstörstift).  :palm:

If those are MCUs they'd probably be identifiable just by the location of the Vcc/Gnd pins. I'm going to guess 8051, or some PIC.
