Hi guys
I want to buy a Quick 861DW

I've been looking at them for quite some time.

However recently there seem to be two types

The 'original' type

Of the 'original' type that were reviewed on eevblog and by Louis Rossman there now seem to be two distinct price groups on Aliexpress, that makes me suspect these are not all the same thing even though they look the same

A lot of sellers have these at the ~235 euro price which is what they have been for the last year

I've no problem with paying the ~235 price, in fact that's what I expected to pay. But what's with all these identical looking ones at half price that appeared recently? Are they the same or are they not? I'm a bit suspicious of them to be honest, but then again don't want to spend money unnecessarily

Actually those last two look the same but the rear panel is a bit different (spacing of ventilation slots, a sticker, and a n earth socket of some sort)

I'm not really sure why you describe them as "identical looking". To my eye, they very clearly look rather different (the handle, the switch, the font, the branding etc etc).

There's obviously no way of telling whether the first listing represents an original, but I'd say that the second is definitely a clone.

I didn't decribe that well, there are three types i have seen, the cheaper type with the handle on top, the 'original' type and one that looks like the original but has a different back panel (all three columns of cooling vents the same width, IEC socket instead of captive power lead) which is being sold about half the price of the original.

I bought the cheap one from Amazon UK 3rd party seller (I'm a beginner)

This being my first time using one, it works fine enough for me, but I don't know any better, for all I know it could be crap performance wise compared to the Quick.

You can avoid this whole issue if you get the Best BST-863 from a reputable retailer instead. The best advice I can give in light of all the Quick clones out there these days.
