Rigol DG1022 questions
« on: January 01, 2012, 07:00:19 pm »
I might wanna buy a Rigol DG1022 (the consensus seems that it's a good waveform generator aside from the software).

However i have some questions about the device.

Is the output very stable (as in it won't change frequency (aside from the drift over a longer time)?
Can you change the duty of a saw wave (0-100%)?
What is the actual duty cycle you can have in square wave?

How good would you rate the device?

See for yourself.

Especially the PC software and Rigol's "support" don't fulfil my professional requirements.

Note there are at lest three hardware versons. Two hardware versions are sold as DG1022 and are indistinguishable from the outside. And a third one sold as DG1022A. If you happen to get the DG1022 00.01 hardware you are basically screwed, since Rigol doesn't support that hardware any more at all. If you get a DG1022 00.02 hardware or the DG1022A you might get a tad of support from Rigol. Note also that Rigol in principle refuses to support people who bought their instrument on the grey market (grey import from China), completely independent of the hardware version you got.

Well that didn't answer anything, I'm not asking about data sheet values, I'm asking if it actually does what the data sheet says it does.

If you are too lazy to read, why should I go out, drag the junk out of storage, set it up and waste my time checking it out for you? You know, no one here is your servant.

If you are saying you don't wanna help then why are you posting?
If you don't want to help that's fine, but saying you don't want to help seems such a waste of time.

I have the DG1022 and im quite happy with it. However all questions you asked are precisely answered in the manual and data sheet BAW pointed you. Rigol is not a manufacturer which will make false claims in data sheet (at least not very false)

Oh, the joy of sending various electronics to silicon heaven
