Ultrasonic cleaner, adding 'Frequency Sweep'
« on: May 31, 2026, 09:17:10 pm »
I thought there would be more Ultrasonic cleaner talk and mods on here since they're so good for cleaning off flux and cleaning boards in general. Anyway has anyone ever thought about replicating the frequency sweep boards Crest put in their cleaners and putting them into a cheap one?

It's well known that Crest have the best cleaners thanks to Louis Rossmann but the only difference seems to be these boards, two listed on ebay

Doesn't look to be all that much going on with them either.

I would guess that board is creating a 40kHz square wave and sweeping it +/-2kHz or so, at a rate of ~500Hz. So not terribly complicated.

But you won't be able to just drop that into an existing ultrasonic cleaner. You'll have to figure out where the gate driver signals are, cut the traces to them, and then inject your own signal. Then figure out how to enable/disable the frequency generator board, or if the gate drive has an enable input already.
