Waterproof through panel connectors?
« on: January 12, 2016, 05:47:12 am »
Something I'm having a great deal of trouble finding. I'm looking for a simple waterproof socket and connector that can be panel mounted. Seems trivial but damned if I can find anything.

This is the best I can find http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-2-pin-panel-mounted-socket-M14-waterproof-electrical-connector-IP68-waterproof-cable-connector/2046730646.html?spm=2114.13010208.99999999.264.2Eazjo

But is expensive and a bit excessive, I'm only looking for low amp 12v.

Anyone have any idea where such a thing can be sourced?

I was going to suggest the Bulgin Buccaneer 400 series as I've been looking at them to use in a project but then I price checked your link and if I read correctly it's offering 10 pairs of connectors for 35USD which seems a bargain to me.

Waterproof bulkhead connectors are not cheap.

This guy had a hard time sourcing them for the high pressures he wants and had to come up with his own. Took quite a few tries to get it right.

Deutsch Autosport connectors are pretty much the standard in motorsport. They're very similar to milspec olive-green connectors but cheaper and lighter. Still far from cheap though, as is the tooling and the heatshrink boots you need to protect the wiring properly.
