Weller WSD81i or MULTICOMP
(1/1)
Yaroooo:
Hello,
I'm looking to buy a new soldering station. Mine Yihua 995D is a piece of junk. Welding is a pain, tips oxidate and when heating element burn out I was unable to solder since the only replacement I've found are from China (1 month to wait).
I'm looking for a branded one to be able to find quality and original parts when I need.
My budged is low, no more than 130euro (I know, is very low).
I've found this two interesting soldering stations:
- MULTICOMP PRO MP740888 EU 110e
- Used Weller WSD81i 130e
At work I'm using Weller WSD80 and it's very good and I like it's tips. What I'm worried about is price for replacements. Heating element is 150e , and this unit is used. I don't really want to spend twice the price. Also found some users that had problems on sleep mode. I like Weller, but without warranty could be a very expensive brand.
Multicomp is a Farnell brand. Cheap, replacements are always aviable, each tip have it's own heating element. Also it's new entry and I'll have warranty. But tips design (shape and dimensions) and "build in" heating element are new for me since I'm used to smaller Weller tips.
I'd like to try Multicomp, but I worry about it's possible low performance (just a supposition based on it's low price). At same time I would go to something I know like Weller, but since it's used can become a piece of junk really fast.
Any opinions?
