What enclosure is this?
« on: December 14, 2023, 03:29:52 pm »
Hello everyone,
I found this picture/product (link to the picture: https://www.ak-modul-bus.de/cat/images/products/HVPS525_1-g.jpg  and link to the product: https://www.ak-modul-bus.de/stat/hochspannungsnetzteil_500v_250ma,pd0,,HVPS525-KIT.html) of a product, in this case a high voltage lab power supply. What caught my attention is the enclosure. It is clear. And I love clear/translucent. And this enclosure is much bigger than the other clear/translucent, which I found on the market. It is around 210210x275x100 mm in size. Does anybody know what enclosure it is?

Almost certainly the ELV 7000 series. It was used extensively in ELV’s heyday of kits. (In fact, the kit you link seems to be a 1:1 clone of the old ELV HNT 7000 power supply. I have the plans for it if you want to build your own…)

You need to buy 2x half shells, plus 1x hardware kit. You can either buy 2x gray front/back panels, or make your own. (Especially now that they stopped making the front/back panels in other colors. They used to have black, clear, and transparent red.) And for the clear one, you need to separately buy 4x clear feet and 4x clear covers.

Thanks tooki,
this is what I was looking for. And thanks for the overing for the plans for the ELV HNT 7000, but I have no use for a high voltage powersupply in the moment. I want the enclosure for other projekts.

Here’s some historical info on the design, with some hints on assembly. I think that in the ABS versions (black and gray) they at some point eliminated the central screw holes they mention here, since they no longer appear in photos of them. The clear (polycarbonate) version still seems to have them.

P.S. the spacers (“Abstandsröllchen”) mentioned in the article can also be purchased separately in clear.

How is any of that helpful to the OP? They’re not after small transparent handheld enclosures, but rather a specific large bench enclosure (which I found for them, since I was already familiar with it).

My reply may not have been “special”, but unlike your wastes of time, mine was decidedly helpful to the OP.
