Hi,
So I was searching eBay for a manufacturer someone mentioned here and found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Advantest-BLM-018943-Computer-Board-Assembly-PC-Systems-Takeda-Riken-/161232276380?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item258a314b9c
What is it? Very interesting layout...
Thanks,
Alan

Avantest makes automated semiconductor test equipment - that looks like a bed of nails breakout board. What it tested, I have no idea. It doesn't look like the bare die tester Dave showed off here:
Perhaps its another part of the test assembly?

This is the loadboard for an integrated circuit tester.
Basically this board connects the tester to the chip under test. Those metal cans are very expensive magnetically shielded reed relays.
The reson this structure is circular is to guarantee that all electrical paths are the same length.
