My largest wire was a foot long piece of 10mm 63/37 Pb/Sn solder back in USSR.
This piece was a relic left to me by my older relatives, and it was supposed to be carried across generations. I used 100W soldering stick to melt it during sacred ceremonies of solder melting. I think I won the contest for thickest solder ever. (The open fire casting of fishing blobs with pure lead from car batteries does not count).
