AC adapter with 12V and 5V DC outputs
« on: January 08, 2020, 12:43:05 am »
I am looking for a good AC supply with dual DC outputs, like they used to make for external HDD boxes.
I bought a few cheap ones on eBay and they are all bad. Wrong voltages, and smell like they're already burnt.
Units made by a brand name company usually go for insane prices on normal distributors.

143$? No. 0 stock anyhow

or

and if I eBay that part

That's still more than the cost of the item I'm trying to power.

Anyone have a good Chinese supply part # I can search for?

I mean this one seems good

but the shipping is higher than the unit...

ok thanks, guess I forgot to mention I want at least 1A per output and would really prefer a box with a AC plug.

A higher powered 12V-only box with a soldered in-line buck module?

After having received yet another dodgy 5v/12v AC adapter thru eBay (this one has the loosest AC plug I've ever seen), I found this in my crap:

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/5V-And-12V-Regulated-Power-Supply-Module-1-5A-Hks014R5-Communication-Module/143482395249?hash=item2168379a71:g:BIgAAOSw5T9eAyS2

I had one lying around all this time. So I hooked it up to my lab power supply at 20V, and the module supplies a perfect 5V and 12V.

I might simply end up beautifying it a bit and hook that up to my old drive.
