A transformer that steps down from 110V to 24V will also step up to 110V from 24V if you drive the secondary.  If you follow the power rating of the transformer, you are fine.

Transformers don't work on DC  :o

You may get better results searching for "Boost Converter".

I totally skipped over that small DC fact.  Dolt!   :o

I would be looking at something like the LT3862.  It has a high voltage drive for a high voltage source drain MOSFET.  That is if you want to build one.

I haven't seen that high of output voltage on a premade DC boost module.  How accurate does the DC need to be?

I buy dead 12V inverters that usually have a bad H bridge.  I tear out the H bridge and use 140V DC inverter out to run CFL and electronics like DVD players etc.    Easy to bridge the feedback resistor to get 120V DC.

Assuming you need a transformer to build a DC-DC converter, the cheapeast way to go is to salvage a transformer from a 24V UPS (you can pick up one cheaply on eBay).
