Witch used solder station Power Source?
« on: August 30, 2017, 03:06:50 pm »
Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a new solder station to replace my chinese Atten rework station, and I'm considering buying a Metcal or Pace system, but not shure witch one.

For the Metcal it's the MX-500P (11 or 21 doesn't mater since the 11 can be converted to 230V), for Pace would be something around PPS-85E. But for now would only be the Power unit since they run low on ePay.
I saw that the Iron for the MX-500 is around $80 and also the same for the stand (other iron or tweezer can be bought at a later stage), for the Pace the SP-2A or 1A are only from China or Asia and seem more expensive.

Would it be an advantage the 3 channels from Pace (this would be a full rework station in one unit) vs the MX-500, I would be better buying other desolder station and other hot air station (Pace or not), instead of having the 3 systems together in the PPS?

Any opinion or comment?
