"since they dropped the code requirement.." (listening to SW show on ham radio!)

There is his very very good *broadcast* show (on HF SW) radio about radio- the immediacy of radio, and the appeal of ham radio..

Right now I'm listening on 9475 KHz.. It is a really great show..  Their url is "qsoradio.com"

Here's some of the things they are saying, that I agree with..

"radio is really magic.."

It really is...

Also, - according to manufacturers of CW hardware, paradoxically, "since they dropped the code requirement, interest in CW has really taken off!"

LOL.. that seems true, at least to me, in that suddenly, I'm interested in it, even though in the past I thought it was something I would never be that interested in..

See attached screen shot.. taken yesterday evening.. Clearly the 20 second burst thing I was talking about in another thread 9probably some kind of CW contest?) wasn't happening yesterday..

Shown is 40 meters, a lot of CW QSOs going on, and the 60 second burstiness of JT-modes around 7.076-7.079.

Now the show, they just told us their name.. "QSOradio" show- is talking about broadcast radio, the sad takeover of many great independent broadcast stations and their being turned into cookie cutter stations..

Whenever I stumble across this show, I like it. Need to figure out some way with my SDRs to 'bookmark' radio shows so they come up..

but i dont!? well if we have to come to an agreement, then we should also say... gravity is magic, charges in protons and electrons is  magic, Newton Laws is magic, the existent of hydrogen and every matters is magic, the existent of every Laws in the universe is magic, why we breath and think is also magic, everything is magic.

voltz:
I think its magical too. And a few hundred years ago, we would have been burnt at the stake for such wizardry..
Yes you can break it all down and explain everything in physics but the idea of being able to communicate with someone you can't see, in another room, in another country even, without any wires is just the coolest thing ever. Its fascinating. And you can build a simple CW QRP transmitter for just a few pounds/dollars and make it happen. Wow.

cdev:
It is magic.

Its especially magic that people can use QRP to communicate thousands of miles, I think.

I think you are referring to http://qsoradioshow.com/ with Ted Randall. I like it and have been listening to it on my podcast feeds for a while now.

http://www.qsotoday.com/ is another good one that interviews various hams from all walks of life. It's cool to hear their stories and their views on everything. (podcast only as far as I know... not on SW)
