BG7TBL filter power ratings?
« on: January 07, 2022, 10:17:27 am »
Hi all

New to this section, not new to EEVblog.

Has any one found any info on the power ratings for those very nice metal-cased filters by BG7TBL? I'm using a 50MHz version on the output of a Chinesium 3W square wave generator RF amplifier for a WSPR transmitter and it works very nicely, but pointing a thermal camera at the beastie's internals shows that the inductors are warming at a quarter of that power level (the input attenuator in the image was 6dB). To be fair, the filter is removing a significant amount of unwantedness and that power has to go somewhere. But I don't want to pop the filter, as I'm generally pretty impressed with its performance

So, any ideas on the actual power dissipation limit? Are there any published specs?

Thoughts welcome.

Rubber bands bridge the gap between WD40 and duct tape.
