How measure electrical lenght of coaxial adapter?

(1/2) > >>

pico61:
I've always wondered how to measure the electrical length of a coax adapter.
Being able to calculate it would be useful, among other things, for the not insertable calibration.
It would be helpful to know a practical method that can be used for any type of VNA.

TDR

pico61:
Right, like you do with coaxial cables or transmission lines. But I think there are two problems.
The first is that you should know the speed factor of the adapter, which is unknown and may vary from one adapter to another. The second, the extreme precision of length measurement (mm).

yl3akb:
Did You mean group delay? Because electrical length is just differential phase shift of your adapter in degrees which You can easely measure using any VNA.

pico61:
The terms of the problem do not change. The delay due to the phase shift is always a function of the wave propagation coefficient in the adapter.
