Is it possible to receive radio with this dongle?
« on: December 02, 2023, 10:05:28 am »
[ Specified attachment is not available ] [ Specified attachment is not available ] [ Specified attachment is not available ]I have this dongle, it's main purpose is to receive tv broadcast. I wonder if it can be used as a sdr to receive radio transmissions too. if so, how can I tell the frequency range of it and if you can suggest the adequate software for it.

My crystal ball is broken.  I have no clue what dongle you have.

Without knowing what exactly is inside of that dongle one would need a lot better crystal ball to answer that. Some of these can be used because they have the Realtek chips that are supported by RTL SDR. Many others are not.

Also depends on what sort of radio are we talking about. E.g. the RTL SDR compatible ones usually can't receive (or only very poorly) anything below about 30MHz. Normal FM and DAB should work with whatever software that thing came with, you have it written right on the dongle.

In addition, that USB connector doesn't look healthy at all - I am pretty certain it is not meant to be twisted to one side like that.
