Large Antenna or multiple 1/n wave in parallel for 868mhz
« on: June 26, 2022, 11:58:18 am »
Hello
I am using some ZULU-2 Radio modems with a PC base station and a mobile device.
For the mobile device i am pretty much stuck with 1/4 or 1/2 wave and or their variants because of it mobile nature.

But for the base station I have a lot more flexibility with respect to type and size.
So question is it better to have a single n times wave length antenna (long whip) or multiple say 1/4 wave in parallel?

May seem a dumb question but i am not an RF person or have any test equipment that goes up to 868mhz so cant measure signal strength

many thanks imk

Get a phased vertical if you need a omni directional antenna and a beam antenna if you can use a directional.
