MC1496 or NJM2594?

(1/1)

xzswq21:
Hello
in a circuit they used a MC1496 or NJM2594. there are two signals at the inputs which one is Carrier and another is a Signal and both are single ended.
there are two ways to detect the signals:
which one is better?

as you see both Signal and Carrier are Single Ended if we use MC1496 we should use a Balun to translate them to a differential signal but in the second approach we don't need the Baluns at all but which one is better? for example the first solution can eliminate even harmonics and I think the measurement would be smoother.
plus I want to replace MC1496, is there any equivalent for this Modulator IC?

Thanks

MC1496 and NJM1496 is the same IC. Using Balun or not is in not dependent on which of these 2 ICs you use.

I'm sorry I edited the second pic. MC1496 and NJM2594 :)
