Title: Replacing questionable Samwha HV caps for Rubycon in a HF Amp
Post by: kj7e on January 15, 2024, 03:15:20 pm
So I have a perfectly good working OM Power 4001A HF amplifier.  Its very nicely made with the possible exception of the HV filter caps, which are Samwha HC series 450v 330uf parts.  I know Samwha has a very questionable reputation for quality and certainly not on par as Rubycon.  So I am contemplating replacing the Samwha caps with some Rubycon HXH series which on paper appear to be vastly superior with ripple current capacity and longevity.

Here is a link to the OEM Samwha's;

And the proposed Rubycon's;

Anyone have issues with Samwha caps?

Edit, adding the datasheets.
