RF/LF SA Mixer
« on: January 29, 2024, 06:20:23 pm »
Hello everyone,
i hope I can find some help here on this forum.

I'm looking to expand the frequency range of my TinySa,
I've seen some Video on Youtube by (IMSAI Guy) who expand his TinySa with an external Mixer (Frequency increase).

His connection looks like this:
RF (signal to be messured)- RF IN
LO - LO IN
IF - TinySa

Now I want to messure signals below the TinySA specification of 100Khz-350Mhz, preferably a few hz.
I've looked at some mixers online like the ZAD-8+ by minicircuits, but IDK if its the right one for my needs.

Hopfuly somebody can help me finding one with correct specification.

First try to understand what you are doing.
You wil convert a certain frequency range to a higher frequency.
Suppose you take 1 Hz to 1 kHz and simply upconvert with 10MHz you get from the mixer 10MHz +/- (1 to 1000) Hz
With the minimum RBW of 3kHz the tinySA won't be able to show any detail.
What frequency range are you interested in?
