"The Titanic and Technology of Early Radio"
(1/1)
MathWizard:
Good overview of some early radio technology, like on the Titanic. I'm very surprised that it's radio ran off about 110V DC and up to 60 Amps. I knew some navy ships ran off 125VDC, but I'm not used to how much power a transmitter uses. Just one of the motors was 10HP.
The audio is not the greatest at times, but there's a slide show too.

IIRC the entire electrical system on Titanic was DC. It was built the early days of electricity, there were still a lot of proponents of DC around.
