VNA calibraion kit for MCX/MMCX/UFL genre
trp806mo:
I need to test some s11 antennaes integration for some new 5G modem.
I may change the standard SMA for some smaller type (MCX/MMCX/UFL) but as I was looking for a "real" calibration kit for the VNA I notice that the A brand don't have such kit (R&S, Keysight, ..) So do someone know how the supplier of a MCX/MMCX/UFL antenna are testing their product ? Or do i miss something ?
joeqsmith:
Not that I am aware of.

The thought occurs that these miniature connectors aren’t designed for a high cycle life. So making a proper cal kit could be a bit wasteful due to limited lifetime.
EggertEnjoyer123:
You could just buy a SMA to U.FL adapter for a few bucks. The 1dB or so difference is probably nothing to worry about.
Miek:
I'm not aware of any cal kits for those connectors.
What I do personally for U.FL is calibrate to SMA and then use a good SMA to U.FL adapter. I use the HRMJ-U.FLP(40) and HRMP-U.FLJ(40) adapters, they're designed for test use with lower retention force and a higher mating cycle rating, and they don't have any significant mismatch so you can use port extensions to de-embed them. I wouldn't recommend the cheap pigtails, they usually have some mismatch at the coax connections, so aren't easy to de-embed.
