WSPR is a very interesting mode.  I was at a friend's house and we were looking at VHF WSPR being bounced off jet vapor trails.  We could see the FM caused by the exhaust vortices, so it's pretty sensitive.  The premise of that hackaday article seems quite optimistic, but I suppose it could be barely possible.
We'll search out every place a sick, twisted, solitary misfit might run to! -- I'll start with Radio Shack.
