Win 11 MS Edge is strangling Shotcut
« on: February 14, 2023, 05:29:16 pm »
on a windows 11 64bit PC , set all my web file type's  from MS Edge to Chrome so I have less bloatware.
now open-source Shotcut editing program is running slow & hogging 80% of memory. when it trys to run.
no other app's are affected.
 open-source audacity is OK.
also windows hid Shotcut from the list of installed apps.
so I re-installed Shotcut two times.
it will still load a video but hogging 80% of memory and takes 10 min.
if OpenGL was missing it would fail completely.
most internet searches about OpenGL are less then helpful.
so what needs to remain in MS Edge so my open-source editing program runs correctly?
win 11 task manager is buried down a deep rabbit hole.
anyone had similar issues with open-source video editing?

been running mcafee antivirus and ms defender. no help on this one.

These are the reasons, why I will stay with Windows 10 as long as possible.

Try 7+ Taskbar Tweaker

something keeps growing inside the Shotcut video editing program
when a 150MB video file is opened. see the image. go's from 30% growing up to 80% that is over 8GB of something.
I re-installed the Shotcut program for the third time.

Reporting that to the Shotcut's team would probably make more sense.

been looking at the history wen the started.
looks like a memory leak happening in windows 11 when shotcut video editing program has any files opened in it.
even if the editing program is re-installed.  all other programs app's are  unaffected.
looking at the history, this maybe sophisticated malware steganography from a war video clip posted on twitter.
 -readovka blog

first signs something was wrong was when the video started buffering in VLC multimedia player, and
had no thumbnail when all others did in the some download folder.
I sometimes crop and catalog videos from off twitter, about things happening in the world,  non-mainstream media
deleting the video made two other videos disappear at the same time. odd.
days later I discovered that the shotcut video editing program was freezing upon opening any video or image.
as this was at the same time I was trying to switch off MS Edge bloatware , adware

mcafee antivirus and MS defender failed to see it as it was imbedded video steganography in a .mp4
out of many video over a yr this is the second time this has happed.
it pays to have more then one PC for video editing & cataloging if that is your hobby.
shotcut has survived by other hardware.

Reporting that to the Shotcut's team would probably make more sense.

Shotcut's team or forum is not as active as this one , so may take some time to reply.

its a massive memory leak and or hang signature in  Windows 11  when video is opened .
