GW Instek spectrum analysers - review/teardown
« on: June 02, 2013, 02:01:35 pm »
Hello, is it possible that in the future, a review (or even a teardown) for a GW Instek budget spectrum analyser will be made available on blog ? I saw the Rigol DSA815 review and I was curious how Instek GSP-930 compares to it.

Well, these spectrum analyzers are totally different, the GW Instek is much more expensive...

You're right, only after I've posted I've noticed the price/features difference. Anyway, I've seen on the blog reviews for various GW Instek products and I thought that a SA might fit as well, if one can get a sample GSP-930.

The GW Instek GSP-730 (3GHz) costs 1000USD. http://www.saelig.com/TSEQRFSAB/TSEQRF001.htm Has someone bought it? It is one of the cheapest spectrum analyzers.
But I have read that the Rigol DSA815 is better value for money. Even if it is only 1,5 GHz and it costs about 1300USD http://www.rigolna.com/products/spectrum-analyzers/dsa800/dsa815/
The DSA815 has better sensitivity and resolution bandwidth. Well, Rigol product have always been bang per buck, while GW Instek is not a top brand, but still rather expensive and maybe more long lasting (???).

But the cheapest SA you can get is ATTEN AT5006 for 675USD. http://www.china-oscilloscope.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_25_24&products_id=33
It looks like a Hameg product from late 1980s  :D :D
