How about a review of your Canon HFG10 camcorder?
« on: July 23, 2012, 08:59:33 pm »
I know you're not strictly a camcorder blog, but it is a piece of electronics, and an integral part of your operation.  And, it seems, to me, you reviewed your overall blogging setup a long time ago, so there's precedent and you're due for another one.  Plus, I'm thinking of buying an HFG10.  I'm particularly interested in the value of its peaking and zebra stripes features.  And, of course, anything else you think is worthwhile.

I've always wanted to, but never got around to it.
It's likely to be superceeded soon, it's been around for a long time.

Hard to take a video using it when you are taking it apart!
Was it really supposed to do that?

I now have a 2nd cam, a Canon HF M400. Same sensor, just smaller lens, and not as wide. So Ican now shoot two angles if needed, with similar quality.
They went stupid on the new model, the HF M500. To make it a smidgen smaller they used a different battery, thus making it incompatible  >:(

Built in obsolescence and a marketing opportunity, plus they can lock out the second source market for 6 months of sales.

You can have a teardown video of these cameras, one at a time ;-)
