Trace repair video - Lisa followup.

Hi

Following your crusty Apple Lisa tear-down.

In this tear-down, some the slot connector pads that are badly corroded, a few to the point of not being "there" anymore.
I work in a marine environment, the equipment is protected, but I'm sure I'll get this one day, and it will on a critical piece of kit, 2000miles and 3 weeks from the nearest place where I can get a replacement sent.
Our stuff is not supposed to fail, but even the best stuff sometimes has problems.

It would be interesting to have a video in two parts:
- Repairing "properly" for the aficionado of fine vintage electronics.
- Bodging that will last until a spare can be found for the professional...
I am in no way saying that you must do a full repair on the Lisa, that's madness, doing one pad with each technique is sufficient.

Just to know the basics to be the "holy electronics saviour" onboard
- How to.
- What parts/products need to have in my personal toolkit.

Still a student, that's why I don't give you any money for all your fine work - yet.

Have not watched the video but seems relevant enough,

For repairing PCB edge connector pads, or wide pads on flex PCB's used on automotive clusters,

you can grab a piece of thicker strand grounding wire, Bend it into the shape you want, hit it thin with a ball pane hammer, until slightly more than the size required, then trim to suit, the thinner you hit it, the more flexible it becomes, so you can glue it it in place and will not inhibit its flex

Apparently my brother is doing the same sort of thing, in the Navy.  He says a typical practice assignment is, drill a 1/4" hole straight through a board, and rebuild it (core and traces) as good as new.
