« on: April 30, 2014, 01:39:42 pm »

For you out there who still use 830 DMM, maybe you can consider this...
I have fluke 87 for work , but i being to miserly to my self i only have $5 830-ish DMM
So finaly i buy Sanwa CD800a, and want to share the joy.
Pros:
1. Use 2xAA battery
2. 500h Battery life (7mw power comsumption)
3. CHEAP!!
4. Quite save (you can argue it) it have PTC and 1.5KA fast acting fuse
5. Have mA (Fluke 114 who i wish i won from Dave didn't have it) >:D
6. Seems the lcd and switch contact gold plated
7. Gold Plated Probe
7. Nicely designed Casing
8. Hack-able to RS-232 output

Cons:
1. Not True RMS
2. probe not standard (didn't have standard banana plug)
3. No 10A Current measurement
4. Not so accurate
5. Diode test only 1.5V
6. I didn't find any CAT rated

Thanks for sharing pictures of the insides.

The lowest price I have seen on ebay is $40 USD + $4 USD s/h (to Canada) from a Canadian seller.
