**Note to all: New Siglent products do not include a "Product Certification"

I have recently purchased a Siglent SDG1032X from Saelig.  I was reading through the datasheet and it tells you what's supposed to be in the box.  Everything was there except the "Product Certification".  I contacted Saelig regarding this matter, and a very nice gentleman over at Saelig was quite curious too.  He opened up another brand new SGD1032X as well as a new Siglent spectrum analyzer SSA3021X, and he did not find a product certification document in either.

We were both curious at this point, and he said he was going to contact Siglent state side and see what they have to say. 

He got back to me today regarding this, and Siglent USA says:

"I just heard back from the factory this morning and the word is we do not
have a product certificate or a quality certificate for overseas cargo.  The
information on the website, the datasheet, as well as the catalogue needs to
be updated.

So there we have it! Mystery solved! 

Thought I'd share for anyone else purchasing a Siglent product, or has received a Siglent product, and it contained no Product Certification.

What is the point, what you wanna do with a Chinese issued Product Certification, go to the nearest market and buy toilet paper, will be the same but a litle softer

There IS a official Datasheet with the entire specs of the instrument AND there should be a Cal cert in the shipped box that proves the instrument meets its advertised specs and the Cal equipment used to do so.

Why is more needed ?

Why not, they don't seem to have any of their own.

Note what's printed on a line in the middle of this document:

The Product Certification document is a different document.  My SDG1032X also has the Certificate of Calibration.

I just wanted to share the information I had learned with others who might have had a question, as its listed as one of the included documents on their Datasheet.

Nothing more.  I agree, Calibration Certificate is good for me too.

The product certificate guarantees that the product meets all safety standards, and also guarantees that the product is authentic and comes from the factory that is specified on the product certificate.

In the EU, for most products, there is no need for an extra safety certification from an independent institution. They only require the CE marking (showing the manufacturer is willing to confirm standards)  and the confirmation by the manufacturer that the product meets the required safety (and EMI) standards.

To meet the EMI standards this might need measurements from a reputable institution - but usually no need to show a copy. As those TUV certificates show, the are voluntary extra checks.

It depends on the instrument and use, if you really need the paper with "certificate of calibration" - nut sure this is any better than an QC passed sticker.

That is not entirely true. If a product is imported into the EU the importer will have to assume liability for the product so many importers will demand formal testing of the product.

IMHO the OP is confused between a document which shows the instrument passed calibration and documents which show CE compliance. The latter can also be part of the manual so there isn't always a seperate declaration of CE compliance.

Yes, that appears where improvements to documentation will be made.

This strongly implies Siglent do indeed have the documentation and need to provide English versions on their website and/or in manuals.

There was a change in the regulations a few years ago and each instrument has to be accompanied with the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) that states what directives the unit meets. The unit does not actually have to be independantly tested (and often isn't) for either safety or EMI. The importance of the DoC is retroactive - if challenged the person who has placed the instrument on the marked (manufacturer or importer) has to prove that they have taken all reasonable steps to ensure it complies. If they haven't then unlimited fines including full product recall beckon.
