1153A Diff Probe - any mods for 3000 series ?
« on: June 02, 2018, 02:11:20 am »
Has anyone modified an 1153A diff probe to allow recognition by the 3000 series?

Quoting Keysight support: “The 1153A probe requires the VProg input to be +-6Volts. The newer scopes Qrex, Z,S and V series all have this VProg output fixed to +- 5 volts and not programmable.”

So, give external 6V and modify the ID resistor to something generic (look for the autoprobe patent) or preferably, make it so you can swap the ID resistor from outside, e.g. by adding a socket for a TH resistor ) so you can control the probe head attention according to your attenuators choice. The attenuation factor can ofc also just be set manually in the probe menu. It’s just a display issue.
