RIGOL DG2000 function arbitrary waveform generator
« on: October 28, 2019, 06:27:15 am »
For all those who do not like the design of the DG800 and DG900 series, today RIGOL presents the DG2000 series. Rigol DG900 and DG2000 have the same technical characteristics but a different design. Now the DG2000s can be stacked :)

I believe Rigol is spamming the market with many similar products.  DS2000A vs DS2000E, DS1000z vs new 2 channel version, same arb gens 800,900 and now 2000! What's going on?

New management, that thinks they need to "cover" the entire market maybe?
Anyway this appears to be identical hardware to DG800/900 with an added ethernet port. Still happy with the DG811 $280 + $3 ethernet adapter :D

DG2052 price: 539 EUR $600 USD.

The DG800 / 900 PCB even features the LAN connector, though at an awkward position. My bet is a slightly modified main PCB in the DG2000 with the USB host moved to the front, the LAN directly accessible at the rear and that's basically it. Rigol didn't even appear to have used the opportunity to beef up the FPGA a little so the frequency counter will operate in parallel with two generator channels -- the manual still states that CH2 gets disabled when the frequency counter is active.

IMHO -- this instrument is way too expensive for the performance it offers.

My impression is that the case design of the DG800/900 is a flop. Nobody wants a part that cannot be stacked or you cannot put anything on top, not even a coffee mug. Remedy: see picture  >:D |O

Furthermore, they have 16bits, but phase noise is not as good as the classic parts DG1000Z.

Hello comrades!

I want to purchase Rigol DG2052, are there any ways to hack it before DG2102?
