In what respect?  It's a 300V Cat II instrument intended for a protected lab environment. Read rate at 6 1/2 digits is 10 to 0.6 rdg/s depending on NPLC.

EDIT: It's time to stop expecting people to second-guess your questions.

Considering that NI says "it is ideally suited for OEMs, educational laboratories, or other cost-conscious test and measurement applications," I suppose that different people certainly have a different idea of what cost-conscious means, since it also says that it starts at $1870 CAD!!   :o

I know it is 6.5 digit, but wow.  It doesn't even have a display.  :)

The price is sick. You can get a Keysight 34465A with a very nice display, up to 1000V, including a full SCPI implementation over USB.
Why buy the NI ?

I've not checked, but surely as this is a "headless" device, that price includes the licence for LabVIEW and the specific control software?

Who am I kidding?  :-DD

I suppose for $200, being able to measure to 6.5 digits isn't too bad, assuming it actually works (and is within spec) and you can rig up some decent software to utilize it on your bench.

Personally, though, if I were going to try to get some 6.5 digit goodness for $200 I think I would buy a couple of those $65 HP 3455A boat anchors off eBay (say, like one that powers on but has cosmetic issues and another one that looks nice but doesn't power up) and try to make one really good unit out of all the parts (and then try to find someone close by with a good meter or references or whatever to check cal or recalibrate as necessary, etc.) or something.

On the other hand, I AM the kind of person that has always had a certain fondness for that ol' boat anchor style equipment, YMMV:)

That's always the discussion with proper "lower tier" instruments. The regular person will feels it's an extraordinary amount of money, but for businesses it's generally not too bad. Keysight calls its $1000 to $2500 instruments affordable too.

At that price ?  go get an Metrix 120,000 count portable meter or a Gossen if you love crazy display counts loll, too high priced for +/-300v inputs

To depend on a computer to do a job ??? unless you do data logging intensively,  not interested

But in the past i did look out for some usb equipment and turned away

Well, the *list* price for a Keysight 34465A *with* 1000V *and* a nice screen *plus* SCPI is CDN1770.
NI slogan: pay more, get less :)
