I just pulled the trigger on one from TEquipment after spending way too much time reading forums and now it is a good $100 cheaper on Amazon... |O
Sold by Amazon so assume it is not grey market dodginess, but I am pretty new to this space so who knows.
-
Not sure about the prevalence of counterfeit Flukes on Amazon right now, but for sure you'll get much better customer service, and warranty service should you need it, from TEquipment.
-
Counterfeit Flukes do exist.

I disagree, Tequipment customer service is even worse than Amazon, because the only person there who knows anything or can do anything is Evan, and he doesn't answer his email anymore (I'm not sure he even still works there).
Doesn't warranty service go directly through Fluke?

I doubt it. Although Amazon lists the country of origin as "China", they get things wrong all the time and I think this is probably one of those times. There's always the 30-day return window. As for support, for Fluke in the US you get that directly from Fluke.
Amazon will discount things heavily at times, even below cost and even when the supplier isn't having a sale.

If it's the one listed for $318, then its sold and shipped by Amazon so I don't think that it would be a fake. There's another listing on Amazon for the same meter for $414 but it doesn't say who it's sold by and shipped by. And there are other listings on Amazon that even more expensive.

Amazon is an authorized distributor, and this is attached to their Fluke store so one would hope they are not counterfeit...

AFAIK it is mostly test leads and accessories, faking a whole meter would be quite a challenge. Perhaps a sort of grey-market scam might be possible, there is a Chinese 87-V C that could be remarked.
However, Amazon is an authorized seller for Fluke and this deal is listed on the Amazon Fluke Store.

Maybe the leads or something but I find it hard to believe people are faking the meters.

Kind of weird that this wasn't one of the many Fluke Prime Day deals.

The first one is from the Fluke store through Amazon.
Interesting: "Designed and built in the U.S.A." near top of page, "Country of Origin China" near bottom of page.
The TE listing shows "Country of Origin United States" near the bottom of the page.

That's probably Amazon being Amazon. They also list the power source at the top of the page as being 'corded electric' but at the bottom they say it takes 4 AA batteries. In fact, it takes a 9V battery. I suppose technically that is 'corded electric' if your cord is the wires from the battery clip.

Thanks for the heads up on this one!
I just ordered and received a new BM786 a few days ago, but I won't pass this deal up. I just snagged one. My old 87, series 2 I think it is, could use a well earned rest.
I looked at the 87v during the Prime Day thing but it wasn't anything to write home about. Strange that they'd drop the price AFTER.
Thanks again for the heads up!

Should be OK - Amazon is on Fluke's authorized dealers page:

Lowes is selling it for $318+

And for any fellow US veterans out there, Lowe's military discount knocks another $32 off that, bringing it to well under $300. Lowe's is also selling the 117 for $158, after discount it was $143 when I picked one up yesterday. I already have an 87V, but have a specific use in mind for the 117 and couldn't pass one up at <$150.

Ah yes. The legendary deals on Amazon "Fruke" multimeters......

Shipped and sold by amazon, so its legit.
Wasn't sure if linking to things to stores was allowed or frowned upon (that was my literal first post to the forums), will do in future.

The rule as I understand it is only clean links - not with affiliate/referral codes.

I received mine this morning. Again, many thanks for your post about these.
It is a legit Fluke 87V. It was produced during the 27th week of 2023, so it's not old stock that's being unloaded. I see that the price has jumped up a hundred bucks since your original post but it's still a hundred cheaper than the regular price.
Once more, thanks again,

Mine arrived yesterday, with a 75th anniversary logo printed right under the rotary dial.

I ordered one of these awhile back from Amazon when I noticed the price. Mine is due to arrive next week. I am looking forward to it. It will be a nice upgrade from my old Fluke 12. ;D
