AC Power Supply for DUT
« on: June 21, 2023, 04:41:24 pm »
Hello Mates,

we're required to test electrical heaters (shower heads and boilers) under NBR12090 and IEC60335-2-35. The DUTs should be supplied from the mains, but often the voltage is under or over the required value. Currently a voltagem stabilizer (transformer with 32 taps) is used to correct the voltage.

The ideal equipment would be a AC Power supply (like Chroma or similar) but this is out of the labs budget.

Accordingly to the standards the power requirements: Single phase @ 127Vac 5500W, 220V up to 12000W at 50 and 60Hz sinusoidal (nowadays we do not test for 50Hz)

The standards does not say anything about harmonic distortion

What would be good AC power supplies alternatives? I've been thinking about solar inverters, Single phase UPS and even industrial VFDs

Greetings, Renan
