Adjustable COTS DAQ front end? Attenuation & LPF?
« on: August 20, 2019, 09:57:30 pm »
Are there small (like palm of hand, or small bench unit) DAQ front end boxes? I'm thinking like an adjustable 10x, 5x, 2x, 1/2x, 1/5x, 1/10x gain amplifier/buffer and adjustable low pass filter frequency, like 1khz / 10khz / 100kHz. Exact values aren't necessarily important, just kinda in that range. I don't need super high accuracy either, but under 0.5% would be nice.

I want to use a cheap USB DAQ I have (https://www.dataq.com/resources/obsolete/products/di-149/) that has a +/- 10V input with signals that are like +/-60V, with appropriate anti-alias filtering, and thought there should be an off the shelf one, but can't find it. I might be using the wrong search terms. I keep finding conditioners for 4-20mA or single IC front ends for direct ADC use.

I remember using a big adjustable rack mount filter with nice clunking knobs in college, but I don't think it had gain. I could breadboard something, but would like one that was pre-calibrated / ready to go / has nice banana jacks & knobs etc to save time.

Hmm. Maybe an input divider followed by a LTC1564 is kinda close.

Maybe I just get a new DAQ with a PGA built in later :-\, like a DI-1120.
