Advantest R6161 - 6 1/2 digit voltage & current source
« on: June 10, 2014, 05:59:36 am »
Its true, once you start going volt-nutting, its hard to stop. Introducing my latest eBay find (not the 3458a):

The Advantest/ADCMT R6161 6 1/2 digit voltage and current source, at an order of magnitude less money than the current reseller prices  :phew:.

The big brother to Dave's R6142:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/blog/eevblog-576-advantest-r6142-current-voltage-generator/

This unit has a 10nV step size at the lowest range, and can output up to +/- 1200V, with a 10nA-120mA current range.

Full specs:

Manual (this took me awhile to find):

Translating http://www.adcmt.com/techinfo/product/end_of_sale/R6161/i_6161.html gives this tidbit: "Josephson voltage standard system ensures high accuracy"  :-+  :scared:

I'll do a teardown soon to see what kinds of unobtanium make up this unit.

Wow, that is impressively accurate when compared to specs.
