Aeroflex PN8000 phase noise measurement system

I am a technician from San Marino who would need help with a program.
The question is this:
I bought an old instrument used for measuring phase noise complete with the original program with the same serial number as the instrument running under windows XP and below
During installation on my PC it aborts.
I believe the problem is related to the computer a dedicated Dell computer.
I attach brochure of the whole system.
I can send  the program, of course, paying for the trouble, find a solution so that I can use my tool?
Important: the test instrument and software are absolute original

What Windows version is on the computer you are trying to install the software?
Maybe a software copy protection is involved?
I have several computers with different operating systems, if you want I can try if I can install it.
Obviously then I won't be able to test if it runs correctly since I don't have the instrument.

Setup.000 dimension: 26.3 MB
Setup.ini dimension: 1 KB
I attach the .ini file and I wanted to know the string "ID = 33b54bc859d04191b917e3447d3f3331" what it refers to

Even if you have the original cd-rom, the program could be destined to run/install only on a particular PC and not on another. (here's what that id might be in the setup.ini file).
That was what I meant earlier by "software copy protection".
Try installing it on a different pc.
If you can't even install it on this different pc then my guess might be right.

I try to do the installation too but if you have already tried on other PCs then the reason for the failure is what I told you before.

1- did you receive the files and tried to install it?
2- You are able with a debugger to understand where the problem is

I have to look for a pc that has NI Labview installed, it wants it.

All I managed to get is in the attached pic.
There is no way for the installer to do its job.

The fact that it requires NI Labview Runtime v6.02 makes me assume that it is designed for Windows 98, 2000 and NT, it should also work on Windows XP but there is no way.

However, following the procedure that I described previously in PM (I mistakenly told you to create a wpn9000 folder but instead it must be called "wpn8000" and must be placed in "Program Files") at least the program starts but stops immediately because it cannot convert an old .vi made for v6.02 to v7.1 (the oldest runtime version I could find on the web).

Actually I found the runtime v6.02 also (the file to search on the web is "602RTE.zip" but for the murphy law the archive has one of the internal files corrupt and it is not possible to install it

Hello everyone,
to understand my problem with the program it would be better to try it on your windows xp or linux computers with the WINE app
Tested on a couple of PCs: both with windows 7 and with win XP pro sp3 it does the same thing, starts the installation, asks for the language (en or fr) and after the request the installation disappears or better returns to the top without giving any errors.
So who is interested in helping me, thank him in advance and if you give me your email I will link you to download it

The program, by installing the Labview runtime v6.02 that you sent me, starts and looks like in the attached pic.
I can't try more than that since I don't have the hardware.
As for the installer there is no way to make it work and I don't understand why as it doesn't show any errors, it just shuts down (also tried with windows 98 SE).
However, if you follow the instructions I gave you earlier, you will be able to run the program and verify its operation.
After all, the installer does exactly the same thing I did manually: take the files from the archive setup.000 and copy them into the folder wpn8000

It would be nice to run the "setup.exe" prg also

As I imagined from the beginning in the installer setup.exe there is a protection scheme.
In fact it is done with Inno Setup version 5.1.6, a very powerful program that allows very sophisticated encryption and protections.
All this complication and then they leave the archive with all the files in clear and unprotected. Boh?
So finding out why setup.exe isn't working would take too time, which I don't think is justified at this point.

probably some routine that resides in the .exe file is missing

The Inno setup compiler program is as the name says a compiler and if you want to have fun compare with a debugger (I use IDA) the start of the setup.exe of both and you will see that they are almost the same with the difference that one goes and the other doesn't
