B&K Precision model 3025 For Sale on Craigslist - Should I Buy?
« on: January 14, 2021, 06:16:11 am »
I'm trying to put together an electronics lab for myself, and found a B&K Precision model 3025 sweep/function generator listed for $75 on my local craigslist.

Seems to be in good condition, and the seller has pics of the waveforms up on their scope + says they can demonstrate that it's fully functional (apparently they upgraded to a new function generator).

Is it a good deal, or would I be better off buying something new?

Yep it is a pretty capable signal generator, even if it does look rather old.

It all depends on what your needs are. But in general for most electronics work you don't need fancy high end equipment as long as you got something. Start off with something old and cheep then see if you end up outgrowing it and needing something better. At that point you are much better informed on exactly what specs you want to spend the big bucks on for a shiny high performance model.

I still keep around a old analog twiddly knob HP pulse generator despite having proper digital signal generators. Sometimes  the simple old analog thing is all i need.
