| Agilent 34410A firmware - update risks and Mac compatibility? |

I have FW 2.35. Three questions: 1. Is it worth updating to 2.43? 2. If I do, and given I have 2.35, will i lose calibration? 3. Is it possible to update FW via a Mac OS? Thanks. |

Despite being a mac user myself I wouldn't futz with firmware on a device remotely directly with it. Especially when the software is vendor provided for windows. I have a junker PC around for that stuff. I can't answer question 1 but on 2 it says on the download page that it doesn't affect the calibration: https://www.keysight.com/gb/en/lib/software-detail/instrument-firmware-software/34410a-dmm-firmware-1299517.html Realistically if something isn't broken I wouldn't try and fix it. My 34401A firmware is 1999-ish :) |

Don't Keysight provide patch notes for these updates, so you can see what the changes are? |

For 2.41 and 2.43 it does say "Note: There is no need to re-calibrate the DMM when this new firmware is installed." But the Release notes for 2.35 - 2.39 tantalisingly include " Corrected calibration data and state storage issue involving instrument non-volatile memory" And since you cannot see install instructions for anything back past 2.41 this all caused me to wonder if there was a risk to cal data. |

What I should also have asked was: "Without 2.41+ am I correct that I cannot use the LAN either as prior FW is not compatible with Java 8?" Hence my dilemma... |
