Hi All,
Exciting times for me as a upcoming EE in my junior year. I just got my first scope an Agilent 5422D used from a test equipment refurbisher. We used almost identical Agilent models in our labs but I have come across some boot up errors on the scope and could use some insight on whether or not I should attempt fixing them or if is better to return it. Attached is a screen shot of the boot screen "concerns". After some time researching online I have found very little information. I know it is from 2000-2002, has logic analyzing capabilities, it appears to have the GPIB module installed, it could be running outdated software at revision A.02.31 and it uses a floppy drive interface my best guess is for wave form capturing, but apart from that I am quite lost on the internal hardware and chipset information. If anyone could shine some light on this beautiful vintage scope and help me restore it that would be great. Thanks!

Your scope wants to tell you that its battery needs to be replaced. This happens about every 10 years. You will get much more threatening error messages when the battery is completely empty.
Perform the self-calibration after you have replaced the battery. Then everything should be fine again.

Great Information, fascinating to see that Agilent is now tied to Keysight I had no idea. This is great I'll get a 2032 cell holder out and pop that one on so I don't have to keep disordering batteries for replacement. I also was able to find out there is a software easter egg on this series of scopes to play asteroids on by using ROCK_ON as the file name under save/recall. Great to see some humor even in the quality lab tools. Thanks again for the Help all.

:-//
Doesn't everyone know HP became Agilent which became Keysight.
Some models #'s even shared brand names.
Colloquially know as HPAK these days.

I know now! Us younger lads could use a history lesson every once in a while. Working with older equipment is fascinating getting to see how engineers arrived at a solution with older technology :-+
