Agilent 54831M Hack to 1GHz
« on: July 25, 2021, 01:54:40 pm »
I was reading this thread:

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/54831b-upgrade-to-54832b-possible/

I attempted to reply, but I got a message stating the thread was over 120 days old and suggested starting a new topic.

Per the thread, I saw the oscilloscope "now identifies itself as 1GHz BW", however, I didn't see where to find this. I'm considering removing the resistor on mine.

From what I can tell from the thread, when the scope identifies itself as a 54832, that indicates it's a 1GHz BW due to the model number change, is this correct?

Mine is a 54831M (although, in the 'about' menu, it shows as 54831B), so I assume after I remove the resistor, it will show as 54832B or M?

Take no notice if what you intend to post is highly relevant to an older thread.
In some ways for those finding these similar threads in years to come it can be a good idea to drop links into threads so to some effect tie them together.

Good luck with your hack.

Good call, I'll post my initial message on the actual thread.
